Questions About Selling Gold & Jewelry

Evaluations, payments, gold purity, appointments, home visits, and more — answered by Marty.

Frequently asked questions

How does Marty determine what my gold is worth?

I evaluate gold by purity (karat), weight, and current market conditions — piece by piece. I explain the offer in plain language so you know exactly how the value was reached before you decide.

How does gold purity (karat) affect what you pay?

Higher-karat gold contains more pure gold, so 18K and 22K pieces are typically worth more per gram than 10K or 14K. I test purity during the evaluation and price accordingly — broken or mismatched pieces are still valued by their gold content.

How does Marty evaluate diamonds?

I look at the diamond itself as well as the setting, including factors such as size, cut, color, clarity, condition, and current market demand. If you have a grading report or other paperwork, bring it with you, but it isn’t required for an evaluation.

Can I sell broken or unwanted jewelry?

Yes. Broken chains, damaged jewelry, single earrings, old rings, and pieces you no longer wear can still be worth cash. Do not throw broken or scrap gold away — bring it and I will evaluate it with everything else.

Does Marty come to my home?

Yes. I can come to you for a private evaluation, or we can meet at my office in Hollywood or Boca Raton. Call or request a visit and I will confirm timing and your area.

Can I sell inherited jewelry?

Yes. I buy inherited and estate jewelry regularly — gold, diamonds, watches, and mixed collections. Bring paperwork when you have it, but you do not need a formal appraisal to get started. I will review the items carefully and explain the offer clearly.

Do I need an appointment?

An appointment is recommended so I can give you my full attention. Call 833-MARTY-33 or request a visit online and we will set a time that works for you — whether I come to you or we meet at the office.

How and when do I get paid?

All payments are made instantly when you accept the offer. There is no waiting for a check to clear or a store credit — you walk away with cash for the items we agree on.

Is there a fee for an evaluation?

No. Evaluations are free and with no obligation. You hear the offer first and only sell if you are comfortable with it.

What else does Marty buy besides gold?

I buy gold and jewelry, diamonds and gemstone pieces, luxury watches, coins, sterling silver, estate collections, and other valuables. If you are unsure whether an item qualifies, call and ask — I am happy to talk it through.

What should I bring to an evaluation?

Bring the items you want evaluated, plus boxes, certificates, or paperwork when you have them. For watches, original boxes and papers can help. For estates, any inventories or notes about the collection are useful but not required.
